What is a National Missionary?

National Missionaries are indigenous workers supported by our National Missionary Programme. They come from the nations they serve, so they already know the language and culture, and can eat the same food as their neighbours without getting sick. They know and love their communities and have an incredible insight into the needs and challenges of the people they serve.

When people are overwhelmed by disease caused by a lack of clean water and proper sanitation, our missionaries seek to provide practical solutions in real time – by setting up Jesus Wells and toilets! They’re moved with compassion for widows and leprosy patients whom others have despised and they care for their needs.

These courageous labourers are on the front lines. God is using them mightily, helping to transform entire communities, but the work is far from finished. Billions of people still have never heard of Christ’s love. Join us on the journey to provide support for our missionaries on the field as they continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Changing lives eternally

With National Missionary sponsorship, we have the opportunity to change lives not only here and now, but eternally in Asia and Africa. Did you know that around 80,000 people die every day in the 10/40 Window? Some of their lives may end without ever hearing about the love of God. What does a National Missionary do?

National Missionaries are passionate people who work full-time within communities in need and within areas of their own cultures or very similar ones! They already know or can easily learn the local dialect and customs of the Asian and African villages where they share Christ’s love. They don’t need to spend years learning the real-life struggles of these communities, because they already know the needs and hearts of the people they serve!

Through GFA World’s National Missionary Programme you can partner with us as we support missionary training for both men and women, as well as National Missionaries already on the field reaching Asia and Africa with the love of Jesus Christ!

How are Missionaries Reaching Communities?

Our National Missionaries are ministering much like the Christians in the early Church did – they’re boldly sharing Christ’s love, lovingly caring for the sick + needy and graciously leading local fellowships. Depending on the location or situation, their ministry could include many forms of outreach:

Child Sponsorship Programme– Rescuing Asia and Africa’s poorest children through education, love and the hope of Jesus.
Bibles and Literature Ministry– Printing and distributing Bibles and Gospel tracts in many languages.
Film Ministry – Showing Asian and African-made film about Jesus to those who don’t know Him.
Radio Broadcasts– Speaking the love of Jesus in local languages.
Leprosy Ministry– Caring for shunned leprosy patients and their families.
Jesus Wells– Transforming villages, both physically and spiritually, by providing pure clean water.
Slum Ministry– Reaching out to the millions who live in Asia and Africa’s massive shantytowns.
Women’s Ministry– Building up Asian women in Christ through literacy, fellowship and discipleship.
Compassion Services– Ministering to the practical needs of people in Jesus’ name.

How Sponsorship Works

It takes an average of £300 per month for one National Missionary to be fully supported. By giving £25 per month to GFA World’s National Missionary Programme, you are partnering with these missionaries and impacting Asia and Africa together with them.

For every £25 monthly commitment you make, you’ll get the photo and personal information of the missionary you’ll be praying for. Please pray regularly for your missionary as our prayers are vital for the success of their ministry on the field.

You will get ministry updates about the region your missionary is serving in. These regional updates will show you the ministries taking place and how lives are being touched and villages are being transformed.
